The Smartest Card. The Smartest Campaign. Put it to work for your library! |
The Prairie Area
Library System (PALS) has received a Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA)
grant from the Illinois State Library to promote library services to area residents.
This exciting initiative will use the “Smartest Card. Get it. Use it”
@ your library message developed for the Public Library Association’s
national campaign. For PALS, we have revised the messages and materials to
work for academic, school and special libraries as well.
The PALS Marketing Team has been
hard at work. Here are the details of the marketing campaign:
Ads
in local movie theatres will begin on April 1, 2006. Ads will run
throughout the rest of 2006. (List
of theaters - PDF)
Grant dollars allowed for placement in multi-theater complexes in major PALS
markets. If you have a single theater in your community and are interested
in your library partnering with them to show the movie ad, PALS can supply
the artwork. Contact Judy at PALS
if interested.
A special
8-page insert will run in local newspapers
during National Library Week. (list of
newspapers - PDF) The newspaper insert will include general messages
about the value of libraries to your communities. Libraries can choose to
purchase additional copies of the insert (see "additional promotional
materials"
order form link below). PALS will also be purchasing sufficient copies of the
insert to mail to all PALS legislators and school superintendents. The proof
of the newspaper insert will be available for review before purchase in March.
The PALS Marketing Team
has assembled flyers, bookmarks and other print
promotional materials that are available here on the PALS website.
You can customize these materials for your library and/or can simply print them
if you would like to use them for your local library's campaign.
The PALS Marketing Team
has also gathered pricing for additional promotional
materials that your library can choose to purchase through PALS
for your library's campaign.
Here are some ideas and tips to help you incorporate
the campaign at your library.
Please send us news
on how you are using the campaign and success you have had at your library
so we can evaluate the success of the campaign.
We encourage you to take advantage of this effort and to make it part of your library’s promotion strategy this year.
Funding for this grant was awarded by the Illinois State Library (ISL), a Division of the Office of Secretary of State, using funds provided by the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), under the federal Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA)
