Services / Administration / PALS Poster Printing Service

Prairie Area Library System offers a poster printing service to libraries, library systems and other non-profit organizations in Illinois, or libraries outside of Illinois if they are willing to pay for shipping. Our poster printer can print full color posters up to 44 inches wide. The posters are printed with UltraChrome ink, which is resistant to light damage and has a longer life than other inks.

This is a printing service, not a design service. Customers are expected to send camera-ready files to be printed. While PALS staff can edit or customize your poster for you, it will be more efficient if you can send the actual computer file to us. There will be an additional charge for editing to compensate for the staff time involved and delivery will be delayed to allow for editing time. If you send us a file that requires editing, you must send the exact changes you require. We will use your wording, so please don't include abbreviations, omit punctuation, etc. unless you want your poster to do the same. If you have questions about having your files edited at PALS, contact Poster Service by e-mail or by telephone at PALS, (309) 799-3155, ext 3151 (Rhonda Krahl) or ext 3150 (Judy Hutchinson).

File information
To obtain the most reliable results, it is recommended that you send files to be printed in .pdf format, which can easily be attached to an e-mail message or can be sent to us on a disk. This is usually done with Adobe Acrobat, but current versions of Print Shop, PageMaker, and Power PDF can also convert your files to .pdf format. Because the size of printouts in .pdf files can be changed with no degradation in the quality, this format helps assure satisfaction with the printed poster regardless of size. PALS owns PageMaker, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Microsoft Office software, so we can print from files in formats other than .pdf, but the results are more reliable in .pdf.

Poster sizes
When ordering a poster, specify the finished size on the order form. Posters printed from .pdf files can be resized without difficulty. Posters sent in other programs should be designed for the final printed size.

Finished poster dimensions may not be exactly as you ordered. Some posters do not enlarge or reduce to the exact dimensions without distortion, but we will keep the dimensions as accurate as possible.

Finished posters will not be cut or cropped. They will be sent to you exactly as they come off the printer. If you wish to have PALS staff cut or crop your printed poster, there will be an additional charge to compensate for staff time.
