A Day in the Life of PALS Libraries
On Wednesday, February 10, 47 academic, special, school & public libraries across PALS participated in “Snapshot: One Day in the Life of Your Library” by collecting information, comments, and photographs from events in a typical library day. The results below provide indisputable proof that libraries consistently provide invaluable services to our communities.

In Just One Day
- More than 17,635 people walked through the doors of PALS libraries
- More than 20,121 books, movies, and more were borrowed from PALS libraries
- More than 4,501 people used computers at PALS libraries
- More than 2,193 questions were answered at PALS libraries
- More than 1,573 children participated in programs at PALS libraries
- More than 643 adults participated in programs at PALS libraries
- More than 25,466 people visited PALS library Web sites
- More than 716 people used PALS library external databases
- More than 1,137 people used PALS library internal databases
- More than 157 people expressed comments similar to this patron from Bourbonnais Public Library District:
“I use it extensively. Would hate to do w/o its services!”

Data was collected on February 10, 2010. 47 PALS public, special, academic and school libraries (12% of membership) serving 692,480 citizens participated.
