Workshops on Wheels Programs

Customer Service (Basic or Advanced)

These workshops feature PALS consultants Jane Lenser and Dawn DiVenti.  They will present information on providing courteous, responsive, quality service to your patrons.  The basic workshop is designed for new employees, or an advanced workshop can be tailor-made for your staff.  For more information, contact Jane janel@palsnet.info x4461.

Trustee Orientation

This session is geared to the needs of public library trustees.  The agenda includes the roles of the Illinois State Library and Library Systems as well as an introduction to PALS, information about library law, tax levies and grant applications, the Days and Dates Calendar, trustee roles and responsibilities, training opportunities for trustees, and library advocacy.  The information includes references and citations to publications and tools that will support trustees in carrying out their responsibilities.

Basic Illinois Library Law

This program includes information on Illinois laws that impact the operation of public libraries and the duties and conduct of public library boards of trustees.  There is also an explanation of the taxing options available to support public libraries.  This program is designed for new trustees or trustees who are looking for a review of the legal basics.
